About Principal Derek Bub

Since August of 2015, Derek Bub has been Bonita High School’s new principal. Most recently serving as Etiwanda High School’s Assistant Principal, Bub has also served as an Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, Head Varsity Football Coach, and Mathematics Teacher at Chino Hills High School. “Derek Bub has the energy, vision, and passion to be a top-notch administrator in the Bonita Unified School District,” Superintendent Kurt Madden said. “I am looking forward to his contribution to Bonita High School and the positive impact he will have on students, staff members, parents, and community members.”

Derek Bub holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. He also has a Master of Arts in Secondary Education, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Applied Mathematics. “I have always been attracted to Bonita High School for its diversity in the student body and its academic excellence,” Bub said. “I fell in love with education as a mathematics instructor years ago and have a passion for the classroom. Joining my passion with that of the collaborative and industrious faculty and staff at Bonita High School is like a dream job.”

“Before college, I thought I would spend my career in law enforcement, which is why I pursued a criminal justice degree,” Bub continued. “After a year working with a small insurance company on fraud investigations, I decided I would rather make a difference in lives before they make mistakes than after they make mistakes.”

Our Prayer . . .

Heavenly Father, we thank You for men like Derek Bub who lead our schools. We ask You, Father, that You would give him words filled with grace, seasoned, as it were, with salt, so that he may know how he should respond to a brokenhearted child, to a rebellious teen, a concerned parent or a discouraged teacher.

May his words be words that are helpful, for building others up according to their needs. We pray Father that you would give him a spirit, like eagle wings, to fearlessly soar across the paths of many with the message of God's love. We pray these things in the Name of Your son Christ Jesus, Amen.
