Dr. Zandra Wagoner
This week, Praying210 has chosen Dr. Zandra Wagoner to support through the power of prayer.
About Dr. Zandra Wagoner
Dr. Zandra Wagoner is the Interfaith Chaplain at the University of La Verne. She is an ordained minister in the Church of the Brethren and holds a Ph.D in Religious Studies.
As Chaplain, she directs the multi-religious Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, furthering the University’s commitment to diversity, community engagement, ethical reasoning, and the development of the whole person. Dr. Wagoner also teaches for the Philosophy and Religion Department, including introductory courses in religion and specialized courses in many areas of theology, faith and religion.
She is actively involved in interfaith efforts locally and nationally. When asked if there was anything else besides her undergraduate religion classes that influenced her to go into religion, she said "I grew up in the La Verne Church of the Brethren and I had a great experience being surrounded by individuals that were doing really great things in the world, one person at a time. They were working in areas of social justice, poverty, hunger, race relations and any number of issues surrounding justice. I saw that these people had a passion for ministry and also had a passion for bringing justice to the communities. Those were my models and throughout my youth, I was very active in participating in some of those events. It eventually became a part of the air I breathed. I continued to do these things because I liked doing good, compassionate things in the world."
Our Prayer . . .
Almighty God, We come to you today and give thanks for Zandra. Thank you for the way in which she gives of herself each day in the classroom and on the campus of this great University. Thank you for her willingness and passion to serve and instruct this next generation.
Father, please fill her heart with courage now by your mighty Spirit. Fill her with your strength, so they she may rise to every challenge and not grow weary. Fill her with your wisdom, so that she may be able to make good judgement when guiding and helping others. Fill her with your peace, so that when stress and anxiety comes it would not overwhelm her. Fill her with your joy, so that the passion she has becomes an infectious passion that spreads to others.
We ask all this in the wonderful name of Jesus. Amen.
