Robin Carder - La Verne City Councilwoman

About Robin Carder
It has been almost 8 years since Robin decided to run for the City Council of La Verne. That opportunity came when Mayor Jon Blickenstaff announced he was stepping down after 27 years of service. Carder said that before throwing her hat into the ring, she consulted with her family and prayed. “I talked to my kids, and even though they didn’t live at home, it had to be a family decision. Running was definitely going to take me more away from the family.”
Carder has a lot on her plate and a lot on her mind. Almost every night she’s out in the community doing something. She keeps an “open door” policy with residents, and she keeps her home number publicly listed. Still, she manages to set aside Sunday as family day when her children and grandchildren come to her home for dinner.
As a member of the La Verne City Council as well as the University Business Manager for the University of La Verne, Robin also serves on a number of other boards and committees in our community. "I take my responsibilities seriously and will dedicate as much time needed to do the job tasked to me. I have been a resident of La Verne for 32 years and have been involved in many aspects of La Verne including serving two terms as a member of the Bonita Unified School District Board. Robin, and her husband Robert, have been married for 37 years and have two married children, two grandsons and a new granddaughter.

This week, God, our prayers are for Robin who has proven herself as a caring and tireless supporter of our community. Thank You for her, for her courage, her service, and her leadership. We ask that You encourage and refresh her. We pray your Spirit guides her as she and her fellow council members lead us to unity and reconciliation, champion justice, call us to radical love and service of others, and envision the future for our communities. Give her wisdom to see brokenness in our communities and to understand people where they are. Amen.
