Ms. Devorah Lieberman - President University of La Verne
This week, Praying210 has chosen Devorah Lieberman to support and encourage through our thoughts and prayers.
About Devorah
As a child, Devorah Ann Lieberman sat at her father's feet with her two brothers every Saturday morning listening to his reading of faith and life Psalms from "Sayings of the Father," a Hebrew text. Childhood memories remind her of the special connection loving parents deliberately, but subtly, make with children. But those Saturday mornings meant much more. The analytical discussions, explorations of convictions penned into those Psalms and the free flow of opinions stirred by them were Irving Lieberman's way of teaching his children to critically think, understand how and why ideas form, appreciate learning as lifelong observers and value kinship in a family that cares.
These skills significantly contributed to Lieberman's professional success and satisfaction in higher education and her in-the-moment contentment with her husband and daughters. Lieberman and her husband Roger Auerbach have been married 23 years and have two daughters, Alicea and Emery.
As the first female leader of the University of La Verne, Devorah Lieberman, Ph.D., began her tenure as the University’s 18th President in July 2011. She brings with her a strong research and publication background in intercultural communication and diversity issues in higher education, as well as extensive knowledge and experience in higher education administration.
