This week, Praying210 has chosen Dr. Matt Thomas to support and encourage through our thoughts and prayers.

Message From Dr. Matt Thomas

God calls us from all parts of the world and walks of life to enter the Kingdom of God. We at Ramona Avenue Christian Church see ourselves as a small part of the movement of God across the world and through time. We are a praying community, knowing that God listens and responds to the cries of God’s people. We rejoice regularly in the ways that God responds to our prayers in tangible ways. We take seriously the radical inclusiveness of Jesus’ ministry as a community that embraces all of God’s children, regardless of background or circumstance. We are an Open and Affirming congregation, grounded in the call of Jesus to abundant life and an open table. I am privileged to share the journey of faith with this portion of the Body of Christ. From teaching Hebrew to seminary students, to ministering in Central Europe, to working in the context of several different Christian denominations; I have been blessed by God with a wealth of varied experiences that have opened me to seeing God in all of life around us. I bring what I have been given to our worship and life together. My wife, Jenny, and I have three wonderful children: Anna, Isaiah, and Noah. We make quite a colorful bunch as Anna is adopted from Central Europe, Isaiah is adopted through the LA County Foster system, and Noah is homegrown.

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is our denominational home. It provides us with a home within the wider Body of Christ, accountability, support, and a rich history. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), founded on American soil in the early 1800s, continues to be influenced by its founding ideals of our unity in Christ with openness and diversity in practice and belief. It seeks to be a "movement for wholeness in a fragmented world." Disciples celebrate open Communion, welcoming all to Christ’s table.

Pray for Dr. Matt Thomas

Dear Heavenly Father, I ask for your blessing upon Dr. Matt Thomas that he might receive the rest that he needs from his long hours of work. Help me to remember that I can help pastor Thomas by offering to volunteer time and talents to do the things that God has gifted us to do so our pastors do not have to take on that task. Help us to remember to let him know how much we appreciate the time and energy that he puts into each and every thing that he does. I pray that he is able to eat right and get proper exercise so that he can remain healthy for Your work. I raise up this prayer in the name of Your Son, Jesus, Amen.

Encourage Matt this week by leaving them a note below. Let them know you appreciate them and are praying for them this week.

"So, first and foremost, I urge God’s people to pray. They should make their requests, petitions, and thanksgivings on behalf of all humanity. Teach them to pray for kings and leaders in places of influence so that we can lead quiet, peaceful lives—reverent, godly, and holy, all of which is good and acceptable before the eyes of God our Savior"

1Timothy 2:1-3
