Donna Redman - City Council, La Verne

This week, Praying210 has chosen Donna Redman to support and encourage through our thoughts and prayers.

About Donna Redman

Donna is hardly a janey-come-lately to volunteerism. She was baptised in public service. Her father served for 25 years as a reserve police officer in La Verne. Her mother, Peggy Redman, had been the longtime director of the University of La Verne’s Teacher Education program after teaching for many years in the Bonita Unified School District.

“Having her as a role model has really served me well, not only in my professional capacity, but also in my volunteerism and leadership,” Donna said. “She is a leader.”

Although community service was clearly part of her future from the start, Donna's political path was less apparent.

“I haven’t always had an interest in politics,” Donna said. “I did do some student government. I was never president, though. I was the secretary to Pep. I mean I was a cheerleader and an athlete (tennis).”

She always bled green and later green and orange, however, attending Roynon, Ramona, Bonita and eventually the University of La Verne where she majored in English as an undergrad and received her Master’s in leadership and management before going on to obtain her doctorate.

Pray for Donna Redman and the entire La Verne City Council this week

1 Timothy 2:1-3 Lord your word commands: 1 “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” (NIV)

Lord in order that “we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” and that “all people [will] be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth” I pray for our governmental leaders and all those in authority.

Proverbs 21:1 Since we know that “The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes.” (NAS) Guide them in their decisions and actions that they might fulfill your purposes and give honor and glory to you.

James 3:17 We ask you to give them wisdom from above that is “first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” (NIV)

Provide righteous, honest, God-fearing leaders and influencers. Cause them to turn to and honor you as the source of their wisdom and power.

Psalm 75:7 & 10 “It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.” He cuts “off the horns of all the wicked, but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.” (NIV)

Daniel 2:21 “He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” (NIV)

Lord, raise-up righteous, wise and God-fearing people to govern us and put down the wicked. Cleanse our city and county government of unrighteous leaders, decisions and dealings.
